Spectators at Friday's non-league test between the Cheney Cardinals (Cheney, KS) and the visiting Garden Plain Owls (Garden Plain, KS), witnessed Cheney's basketball squad nip Garden Plain by a margin of 52-51.

The Cardinals (7-2) will now prepare for their test against Independent (Wichita, KS). The Panthers go into the Central Plains test with a 7-1 record. In their last test, Independent was tipped by Life Prep (Wichita, KS), 61-50, in a non-league test.

The Owls now own a 2-6 record. They play next when they travel to Trinity Academy for a non-league test on Tuesday, January 10. Garden Plain will encounter a Knights squad coming off a 69-41 non-league loss to Dodge City (Dodge City, KS). The Knights record now stands at 2-5.
