The De Smet Jesuit Spartans tipped the host Christian Brothers Cadets basketball team by a final score of 54-53 in Friday's league game.

In their next game, the Spartans face the Chaminade Red Devils (St. Louis, MO) in a Metro Catholic game, on Friday, January 13. De Smet Jesuit will attempt to move on its 6-2 season record.

With the defeat, Christian Brothers moves to 9-6 on the year. The Cadets travel to Sacred Heart-Griffin (Springfield, IL) to face the Cyclones in a non-league game on Saturday, January 7. The Cyclones enter the game with a record of 13-0. Sacred Heart-Griffin won 72-58 in their recent league game against MacArthur (Decatur, IL)
