Texas High School Basketball - Lone Star can't hold off Newman Smith

The Newman Smith Trojans basketball team scored 66 points and held the visiting Lone Star Rangers to 60 in the Trojans league triumph on Friday.

The Trojans now sport a 13-5 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Turner for a 5A Region II District 9 contest on Tuesday, January 10. Newman Smith will battle a Lions team coming off a 84-31 league loss to Reedy (Frisco, TX). The Lions record now stands at 2-16.

The Rangers (9-12) will now prepare for their contest against The Colony (The Colony, TX). The Cougars enter the 5A Region II District 9 contest with a 14-8 record. In their last contest, The Colony was nudged by Frisco (Frisco, TX), 79-72, in a league contest.
