Peoria Lions (Peoria, IL) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the host Peoria Notre Dame Irish (Peoria, IL), 59-53 in a league bout.

With the victory, Peoria upgrades its record to 9-7 on the campaign. The Lions host Bloomington (Bloomington, IL) to play the Purple Raiders in a Big Twelve bout on Friday, January 13. The Purple Raiders come into the bout with a record of 3-11.

Next up, the Irish play the Kankakee Kays (Kankakee, IL) in a non-league bout, on Saturday, January 7. Peoria Notre Dame will attempt to upgrade on its 5-10 season record. The Kays come into the bout with a 12-3 record after their 57-54 league win over Thornwood (South Holland, IL).
