Big Bear Bears (Big Bear City, CA) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the visiting Academy for Academic Excellence Knights (Apple Valley, CA), 34-33 in a league bout.

With the victory, Big Bear upgrades its record to 4-7 on the campaign. The Bears host Palm Desert (Palm Desert, CA) to play the Aztecs in a non-league bout on Saturday, January 7. The Aztecs come into the bout with a record of 5-9. Palm Desert lost 49-21 in their recent league bout against La Quinta (La Quinta, CA)

Next up, the Knights play the Riverside Prep Silver Knights (Oro Grande, CA) in a Cross Valley bout, on Tuesday, January 10. Academy for Academic Excellence will attempt to upgrade on its 3-6 season record. The Silver Knights come into the bout with a 14-3 record after their 75-5 league win over Excelsior Charter (Victorville, CA).
