North Carolina High School Basketball - Ashe County tops Alexander Central

January 6, 2023: Taylorsville, NC 28681

Ashe County Huskies (West Jefferson, NC) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad knock off the host Alexander Central Cougars (Taylorsville, NC), 59-45 in a league bout.

With the victory, Ashe County upgrades its record to 10-3 on the campaign. The Huskies host Hibriten (Lenoir, NC) to play the Panthers in a 3A/4A Conference 52 bout on Tuesday, January 10. The Panthers come into the bout with a record of 14-1. Hibriten won 47-37 in their recent league test against Freedom (Morganton, NC)

The Cougars now own a 12-1 record. They play next when they host Watauga for a 3A/4A Conference 52 test on Tuesday, January 10. Alexander Central will encounter a Pioneers squad coming off a 60-34 league win over South Caldwell (Hudson, NC). The Pioneers record now stands at 11-4.
