Fans at Friday's league challenge between the Jayton Jaybirds (Jayton, TX) and the host Motley County Matadors (Matador, TX), saw Jayton's basketball squad wallop Motley County by a tally of 85-26.
With the victory, Jayton improves its record to 10-2 on the campaign. The Jaybirds host Patton Springs (Afton, TX) to play the Rangers in a 1A Region I District 5 challenge on Tuesday, January 10. The Rangers come into the battle with a record of 1-3. Patton Springs lost 39-26 in their recent league battle against Guthrie (Guthrie, TX)
The Matadors (1-2) will now prepare for their battle against Paducah (Paducah, TX). The Dragons come into the 1A Region I District 5 battle with a 15-7 record. In their last battle, Paducah was overwhelmed by Spur (Spur, TX), 44-36, in a league battle.
