Southwest Patriots (Macon, GA) backers were in high spirits Saturday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting Rutland Hurricanes (Macon, GA), 54-43 in a league bout.

With the win, Southwest upgrades its record to 7-6 on the season. The Patriots travel to Spencer (Columbus, GA) to clash with the Greenwave in a AA Region 2 bout on Tuesday, January 9. The Greenwave go into the bout with a record of 10-1. Spencer won 65-58 in their recent non-league bout against Harris County (Hamilton, GA)

Next up, the Hurricanes clash with the Jordan Red Jackets (Columbus, GA) in a AA Region 2 bout, on Tuesday, January 9. Rutland will attempt to upgrade on its 6-7 season record. The Red Jackets go into the bout with a 1-12 record after their 73-32 league loss to Spencer (Columbus, GA).
