Brookhaven Academy Cougars (Brookhaven, MS) backers were in high spirits Saturday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting Copiah Academy Colonels (Gallman, MS), 41-30 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Brookhaven Academy upgrades its record to 20-8 on the season. The Cougars host Columbia Academy (Columbia, MS) to play the Cougars in a MAIS 5A District 3 bout on Tuesday, January 9. The Cougars go into the bout with a record of 4-2. Columbia Academy lost 50-28 in their recent non-league bout against East Rankin Academy (Pelahatchie, MS)

Next up, the Colonels play the Simpson Academy Cougars (Mendenhall, MS) in a non-league bout, on Thursday, January 11. Copiah Academy will attempt to upgrade on its 1-13 season record.
