Haywood Tomcats (Brownsville, TN) backers were in high spirits Saturday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the host Covington Chargers (Covington, TN), 46-34 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Haywood upgrades its record to 5-10 on the season. The Tomcats host Ripley (Ripley, TN) to clash with the Tigers in a non-league bout on Friday, January 12. The Tigers go into the bout with a record of 2-12.

Next up, the Chargers clash with the Brighton Cardinals (Brighton, TN) in a 3A District 15 bout, on Tuesday, January 9. Covington will attempt to upgrade on its 3-12 season record. The Cardinals go into the bout with a 5-13 record after their 53-51 league loss to Munford (Munford, TN).
