Newport Grizzlies (Newport, WA) backers were pleased Saturday as they saw their basketball squad knock off the host Freeman Scotties (Rockford, WA), 54-36 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Newport upgrades its record to 7-2 on the campaign. The Grizzlies host Colville (Colville, WA) to play the Crimson Hawks in a non-league bout on Friday, January 12. The Crimson Hawks come into the bout with a record of 2-8.

Next up, the Scotties play the Riverside Rams (Chattaroy, WA) in a non-league bout, on Tuesday, January 9. Freeman will attempt to upgrade on its 4-9 season record. The Rams come into the bout with a 4-5 record after their 53-19 non-league win over Soap Lake (Soap Lake, WA).
