Phillips Bears (Bear Creek, AL) backers went home pleased Monday as they observed their basketball team edge the visiting Vina Red Devils (Vina, AL), 52-46 in a league challenge.
The Bears (3-8) will now prepare for their challenge against Brilliant (Brilliant, AL). The Tigers come into the 1A Area 13 challenge with a 13-5 record. In their last challenge, Brilliant edged Tremont (Tremont, MS), 60-56, in a non-league challenge.
In their next game, the Red Devils battle the Hackleburg Panthers (Hackleburg, AL) in a 1A Area 13 challenge, on Tuesday, January 7. Vina will attempt to better on its 4-16 season record. The Panthers come into the challenge with a 9-6 record after their 46-37 non-league loss to Belgreen (Russellville, AL).
