The South Umpqua Lancers (Myrtle Creek, OR) basketball nipped the visiting La Pine Hawks (La Pine, OR), 75-69 in Saturday's non-league test.
The Lancers (5-8) will now prepare for their test against Coquille (Coquille, OR). The Red Devils go into the 3A Far West test with a 7-5 record. In their last test, Coquille got by Sutherlin (Sutherlin, OR), 67-52, in a league test.
The Hawks now own a 5-8 record. They play next when they host Elmira for a 3A Mountain Valley test on Tuesday, January 10. La Pine will encounter a Falcons squad coming off a 43-38 league loss to Harrisburg (Harrisburg, OR). The Falcons record now stands at 2-10.
