Block Island (New Shoreham, RI) backers were in high spirits Saturday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the host Hope Blue Wave (Providence, RI), 29-19 in a league bout.

With the win, Block Island upgrades its record to 1-1 on the season. The travel to Lincoln School (Providence, RI) to play the Lynx in a Division 4 bout on Tuesday, January 10. The Lynx go into the bout with a record of 4-1. Lincoln School won 49-8 in their recent league bout against Blackstone Valley Prep (Cumberland, RI)

In their next game, the Blue Wave meet the Central Falls Warriors (Central Falls, RI) in a Division 4 match, on Tuesday, January 10. Hope will attempt to move on its 1-3 season record. The Warriors enter the match with a 6-3 record after their 63-38 league win over Johnston (Johnston, RI).
