Mankato West Scarlets (Mankato, MN) backers were in high spirits Saturday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting John Marshall Rockets (Rochester, MN), 49-38 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Mankato West upgrades its record to 4-7 on the season. The Scarlets travel to Mankato East (Mankato, MN) to clash with the Cougars in a AAA Section 2 bout on Tuesday, January 10. The Cougars go into the bout with a record of 4-5. Mankato East won 66-26 in their recent non-league bout against Faribault (Faribault, MN)

Next up, the Rockets clash with the Owatonna Huskies (Owatonna, MN) in a AAAA Section 1 bout, on Friday, January 13. John Marshall will attempt to upgrade on its 1-9 season record.
