Merrillville Pirates (Merrillville, IN) backers were pleased Saturday as they saw their basketball squad bounce the visiting Westville Blackhawks (Westville, IN), 58-32 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Merrillville upgrades its record to 4-14 on the campaign. The Pirates travel to Harrison (West Lafayette, IN) to play the Raiders in a non-league bout on Friday, January 13. The Raiders come into the bout with a record of 10-7. Harrison won 42-35 in their recent league bout against Kokomo (Kokomo, IN)

Next up, the Blackhawks play the South Bend Career Academy Trailblazers (South Bend, IN) in a non-league bout, on Wednesday, January 11. Westville will attempt to upgrade on its 5-6 season record. The Trailblazers come into the bout with a 5-11 record after their 53-21 league loss to Bethany Christian (Goshen, IN).
