The crowd at Tuesday's non-league challenge between the Monte Vista Mustangs (Danville, CA) and the visiting Berkeley Yellowjackets (Berkeley, CA), observed Monte Vista's basketball team overcome Berkeley by a margin of 63-50.

The Mustangs (12-5) will now prepare for their challenge against De La Salle (Concord, CA). The Spartans come into the East Bay challenge with a 14-1 record. In their last challenge, De La Salle dropped by Harvard-Westlake (Studio City, CA), 58-44, in a non-league challenge.

In their next game, the Yellowjackets battle the Alameda Hornets (Alameda, CA) in a West Alameda County - Foothill challenge, on Thursday, January 9. Berkeley will attempt to better on its 5-7 season record. The Hornets come into the challenge with a 8-5 record after their 70-51 non-league loss to Dougherty Valley (San Ramon, CA).
