Wayne Academy Jaguars (Waynesboro, MS) supporters left the game happy Tuesday as they witnessed their basketball squad run past the visiting Lamar Raiders (Meridian, MS), 68-53 in a league match.

With the victory, Wayne Academy advances its record to 12-5 on the year. The Jaguars travel to Simpson Academy (Mendenhall, MS) to meet the Cougars in a MAIS 5A District 2 match on Thursday, January 9. The Cougars enter the match with a record of 13-1. Simpson Academy won 82-27 in their recent league match against East Rankin Academy (Pelahatchie, MS)

The Raiders now own a 4-12 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Leake Academy for a MAIS 5A District 2 match on Saturday, January 11. Lamar will meet a Rebels squad coming off a 0-0 non-league Winston Academy (Louisville, MS). The Rebels record now stands at 14-6.
