The crowd at Tuesday's league challenge between the Clairton Bears (Clairton, PA) and the visiting Avella Eagles (Avella, PA), observed Clairton's basketball team overwhelm Avella by a margin of 83-41.

The Bears (7-2) will now prepare for their challenge against Mapletown (Greensboro, PA). The Maples come into the non-league challenge with a 2-9 record. In their last challenge, Mapletown was trounced by Serra Catholic (McKeesport, PA), 72-15, in a league challenge.

In their next game, the Eagles battle the Seton LaSalle Rebels (Pittsburgh, PA) in a non-league challenge, on Thursday, January 9. Avella will attempt to better on its 6-5 season record. The Rebels come into the challenge with a 8-3 record after their 75-37 league win over Washington (Washington, PA).
