In Tuesday's league contest, the host Ishpeming Hematites basketball team scored a big 59-28 triumph over the Gwinn Modeltowners.

The Hematites (5-1) will now prepare for their contest against Negaunee (Negaunee, MI). The Miners go into the Mid-Peninsula contest with a 10-0 record. In their last contest, Negaunee smashed West Iron County (Iron River, MI), 47-28, in a non-league contest.

In their next game, the Modeltowners battle the Bark River-Harris Broncos (Harris, MI) in a non-league contest, on Thursday, January 9. Gwinn will attempt to better on its 1-6 season record. The Broncos go into the contest with a 2-6 record after their 57-41 league loss to Munising (Munising, MI).
