The crowd at Tuesday's league challenge between the Plum Mustangs (Pittsburgh, PA) and the host Penn Hills Indians (Pittsburgh, PA), observed Plum's basketball team overcome Penn Hills by a margin of 39-29.

The Mustangs (3-6) will now prepare for their challenge against Gateway (Monroeville, PA). The Gators come into the WPIAL 5A 1 challenge with a 0-7 record. In their last challenge, Gateway dropped by Armstrong (Kittanning, PA), 31-19, in a league challenge.

In their next game, the Indians battle the McKeesport Tigers (McKeesport, PA) in a non-league challenge, on Friday, January 10. Penn Hills will attempt to better on its 1-10 season record. The Tigers come into the challenge with a 3-5 record after their 66-31 league loss to Penn-Trafford (Harrison City, PA).
