The crowd at Tuesday's league challenge between the Whitharral Panthers (Whitharral, TX) and the visiting Wellman-Union Wildcats (Wellman, TX), observed Whitharral's basketball team overwhelm Wellman-Union by a margin of 67-20.

The Panthers (14-7) will now prepare for their challenge against Amherst (Amherst, TX). The Bulldogs come into the 1A Region I District 5 challenge with a 0-12 record. In their last challenge, Amherst was trounced by Cotton Center (Cotton Center, TX), 40-21, in a league challenge.

In their next game, the Wildcats battle the Anton Bulldogs (Anton, TX) in a 1A Region I District 5 challenge, on Friday, January 10. Wellman-Union will attempt to better on its 10-9 season record. The Bulldogs come into the challenge with a 7-3 record after their 47-40 league win over Meadow (Meadow, TX).
