Penobscot Valley Howlers (Howland, ME) backers were in high spirits Monday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting Piscataquis Pirates (Guilford, ME), 43-31 in a league bout.

With the win, Penobscot Valley upgrades its record to 4-5 on the season. The Howlers travel to Schenck (East Millinocket, ME) to play the Wolverines in a non-league bout on Thursday, January 11. The Wolverines go into the bout with a record of 8-0. Schenck won 44-35 in their recent league bout against Bangor Christian (Bangor, ME)

Next up, the Pirates play the Penquis Valley Patriots (Milo, ME) in a C North bout, on Thursday, January 11. Piscataquis will attempt to upgrade on its 4-2 season record. The Patriots go into the bout with a 4-6 record after their 69-51 non-league win over Greenville (Greenville, ME).
