In Monday's non-league outing, the Cloudland Highlanders (Roan Mountain, TN) basketball squad overwhelmed the host Mitchell Mountaineers (Bakersville, NC), by a count of 70-23.
The Highlanders (10-0) will now prepare for their outing against North Greene (Greeneville, TN). The Huskies go into the 1A District 1 outing with a 9-5 record. In their last outing, North Greene smashed Sullivan East (Bluff City, TN), 53-50, in a non-league outing.
The Mountaineers now hold a 5-7 record. They play next when they travel to NCSSM: Morganton for a 1A/2A Western Highlands outing on Tuesday, January 9. Mitchell will clash with a squad coming off a 74-4 league loss to Avery County (Newland, NC). The record now stands at 1-6.
