Machias Bulldogs (Machias, ME) backers were in high spirits Monday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting Deer Isle-Stonington Mariners (Deer Isle, ME), 52-34 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Machias upgrades its record to 8-1 on the season. The Bulldogs travel to Sumner (East Sullivan, ME) to play the Tigers in a C North bout on Wednesday, January 10. The Tigers go into the bout with a record of 3-6. Sumner won 49-23 in their recent league bout against George Stevens Academy (Blue Hill, ME)

Next up, the Mariners play the Searsport Vikings (Searsport, ME) in a non-league bout, on Wednesday, January 10. Deer Isle-Stonington will attempt to upgrade on its 2-7 season record. The Vikings go into the bout with a 3-5 record after their 44-30 non-league win over Pine Tree Academy (Freeport, ME).
