Charles City Comets (Charles City, IA) backers were in high spirits Monday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting Mason City Mohawks (Mason City, IA), 64-51 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Charles City upgrades its record to 7-6 on the season. The Comets travel to Decorah-North Winneshiek (Decorah, IA) to clash with the Vikings in a Northeast Iowa bout on Friday, January 13. The Vikings go into the bout with a record of 6-4. Decorah-North Winneshiek won 64-50 in their recent non-league bout against MFL MarMac (Monona, IA)

Next up, the Mohawks clash with the Lincoln Railsplitters (Des Moines, IA) in a Freelance bout, on Tuesday, January 10. Mason City will attempt to upgrade on its 6-2 season record. The Railsplitters go into the bout with a 3-6 record after their 88-48 non-league loss to Northwest (Waukee, IA).
