Gowanda Panthers (Gowanda, NY) backers were in high spirits Monday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting Cassadaga Valley Cougars (Sinclairville, NY), 40-32 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Gowanda upgrades its record to 3-5 on the season. The Panthers travel to Salamanca (Salamanca, NY) to play the Warriors in a non-league bout on Thursday, January 12. The Warriors go into the bout with a record of 4-4. Salamanca lost 62-30 in their recent league bout against Frewsburg (Frewsburg, NY)

Next up, the Cougars play the Falconer Golden Falcons (Falconer, NY) in a Section 6 Chautauqua/Cattaraugus Central bout, on Thursday, January 12. Cassadaga Valley will attempt to upgrade on its 6-4 season record. The Golden Falcons go into the bout with a 6-3 record after their 48-40 league win over Frewsburg (Frewsburg, NY).
