Apple Springs Eagles (Apple Springs, TX) backers were pleased Tuesday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the visiting Neches Tigers (Neches, TX), 49-48 in a league bout.

With the victory, Apple Springs upgrades its record to 9-6 on the campaign. The Eagles travel to Centerville (Groveton, TX) to play the Bulldogs in a 1A Region IV District 27 bout on Friday, January 12. The Bulldogs come into the bout with a record of 5-13. Centerville lost 103-45 in their recent league bout against Kennard (Kennard, TX)

Next up, the Tigers play the Slocum Mustangs (Elkhart, TX) in a 1A Region IV District 27 bout, on Friday, January 12. Neches will attempt to upgrade on its 13-7 season record. The Mustangs come into the bout with a 6-15 record after their 59-38 league loss to Laneville (Laneville, TX).
