Wayne Academy Jaguars (Waynesboro, MS) backers were in high spirits Tuesday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting Lamar Raiders (Meridian, MS), 56-44 in a league bout.

With the win, Wayne Academy upgrades its record to 5-5 on the season. The Jaguars travel to Simpson Academy (Mendenhall, MS) to clash with the Cougars in a MAIS 5A District 2 bout on Friday, January 12. The Cougars go into the bout with a record of 18-3. Simpson Academy won 67-65 in their recent non-league bout against Copiah Academy (Gallman, MS)

Next up, the Raiders clash with the Leake Academy Rebels (Madden, MS) in a MAIS 5A District 2 bout, on Friday, January 12. Lamar will attempt to upgrade on its 8-13 season record. The Rebels go into the bout with a 19-7 record after their 61-25 league win over Park Place Christian Academy (Pearl, MS).
