North Side Gators (Shelby, MS) backers were pleased Tuesday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the visiting Riverside Bulldogs (Avon, MS), 48-47 in a league bout.

With the victory, North Side upgrades its record to 13-8 on the campaign. The Gators travel to Leflore County (Itta Bena, MS) to play the Tigers in a 2A Region 3 bout on Friday, January 12. The Tigers come into the bout with a record of 5-12. Leflore County won 65-39 in their recent league bout against O'Bannon (Greenville, MS)

In their next game, the Bulldogs face the St. Joseph Fighting Irish (Greenville, MS) in a non-league game, on Friday, January 12. Riverside will attempt to move on its 11-7 season record. The Fighting Irish enter the game with a 2-5 record after their 54-45 league win over Delta Streets Academy (Greenwood, MS).
