Nixon Mustangs (Laredo, TX) backers were in high spirits Tuesday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting Cigarroa Toros (Laredo, TX), 48-40 in a league bout.

With the win, Nixon upgrades its record to 22-8 on the season. The Mustangs travel to Juarez-Lincoln (La Joya, TX) to clash with the Huskies in a 5A Region IV District 30 bout on Friday, January 12. The Huskies go into the bout with a record of 2-16. Juarez-Lincoln lost 79-10 in their recent league bout against Palmview (La Joya, TX)

Next up, the Toros clash with the Palmview Lobos (La Joya, TX) in a 5A Region IV District 30 bout, on Friday, January 12. Cigarroa will attempt to upgrade on its 13-12 season record. The Lobos go into the bout with a 23-5 record after their 79-10 league win over Juarez-Lincoln (La Joya, TX).
