Winfield Pirates (Winfield, AL) backers were in high spirits Tuesday as they witnessed their basketball squad bounce the host Oakman Wildcats (Oakman, AL), 55-20 in a league bout.

With the win, Winfield upgrades its record to 5-9 on the season. The Pirates travel to Gordo (Gordo, AL) to play the Green Wave in a 3A Area 10 bout on Thursday, January 11. The Green Wave go into the bout with a record of 7-4. Gordo won 40-39 in their recent league bout against Fayette County (Fayette, AL)

Next up, the Wildcats play the Carbon Hill Bulldogs (Carbon Hill, AL) in a 3A Area 10 bout, on Thursday, January 11. Oakman will attempt to upgrade on its 0-12 season record. The Bulldogs go into the bout with a 9-10 record after their 40-37 non-league win over Meek (Arley, AL).
