Washburn Pirates (Washburn, TN) backers were in high spirits Tuesday as they witnessed their basketball squad bounce the visiting Unaka Rangers (Elizabethton, TN), 53-32 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Washburn upgrades its record to 10-4 on the season. The Pirates travel to Cosby (Cosby, TN) to play the Eagles in a 1A District 2 bout on Friday, January 12. The Eagles go into the bout with a record of 6-9. Cosby lost 55-50 in their recent non-league bout against Maryville Christian (Maryville, TN)

Next up, the Rangers play the University Buccaneers (Johnson City, TN) in a 1A District 1 bout, on Friday, January 12. Unaka will attempt to upgrade on its 2-14 season record. The Buccaneers go into the bout with a 1-9 record after their 56-38 non-league loss to Johnson County (Mountain City, TN).
