In Thursday's non-league contest, the host New Hope Trojans basketball team scored a big 66-45 win over the West Lowndes Panthers.
The Trojans (9-5) will now prepare for their contest against West Point (West Point, MS). The Green Wave come into the 5A Region 1 contest with a 5-11 record. In their last contest, West Point smashed Clarksdale (Clarksdale, MS), 56-53, in a league contest.
In their next game, the Panthers battle the West Union Eagles (Myrtle, MS) in a 1A Region 4 contest, on Tuesday, January 14. West Lowndes will attempt to better on its 5-9 season record. The Eagles come into the contest with a 17-4 record after their 57-56 non-league loss to New Albany (New Albany, MS).
