In Saturday's league battle, the visiting Father McGivney Catholic Griffins soccer squad scored a close 9-2 win over the Metro-East Lutheran Knights.
The Griffins (11-6) will now prepare for their battle against Granite City (Granite City, IL). The Warriors go into the non-league battle with a 4-10 record. In their last battle, Granite City nipped Breese Central (Breese, IL), 4-2, in a non-league battle.
The Knights (4-14) will now prepare for their battle against Marquette Catholic (Alton, IL). The Explorers go into the Gateway Metro battle with a 11-5 record.
