Maryville Christian Lions (Maryville, IL) backers exited the stadium pleased Tuesday as they witnessed their soccer team triumph over the visiting Metro-East Lutheran Knights (Edwardsville, IL), 6-1 in a league test.

With the triumph, Maryville Christian advances its record to 10-4 on the campaign. The Lions travel to Father McGivney Catholic (Glen Carbon, IL) to clash with the Griffins in a Gateway Metro test on Friday, October 4. The Griffins come into the test with a record of 12-3. Father McGivney Catholic won 5-2 in their recent non-league test against Gibault Catholic (Waterloo, IL)

The Knights now have a 1-12 record. They take the field next when they travel to Southwestern for a non-league test on Wednesday, October 2. Metro-East Lutheran will clash with a Piasa Birds team coming off a 9-2 league loss to Litchfield (Litchfield, IL). The Piasa Birds record now stands at 4-6.
