In Tuesday's non-league challenge, the visiting Marfa Shorthorns volleyball team scored a close 3-2 victory over the Marathon Mustangs.

The Shorthorns (10-11) will now prepare for their challenge against Fort Davis (Fort Davis, TX). The Indians enter the 1A Region I District 4 challenge with a 12-14 record. In their last challenge, Fort Davis got by Marathon (Marathon, TX), 3-0, in a non-league challenge.

Next, the Mustangs meet the Van Horn Eagles (Van Horn, TX) in a non-league challenge, on Tuesday, October 8. Marathon will attempt to upgrade on its 12-4 season record. The Eagles enter the challenge with a 17-15 record after their 3-0 league loss to Wink (Wink, TX).
