Fans at Wednesday's league battle between the Highland Prep West HORNETS (Avondale, AZ) and the host Payson Longhorns (Payson, AZ), saw Highland Prep West's soccer squad hold off Payson by a count of 2-1.

The HORNETS (9-0) will now prepare for their battle against Show Low (Show Low, AZ). The Cougars come into the non-league match with a 10-3 record. In their last match, Show Low nipped Round Valley (Eagar, AZ), 8-2, in a league match.

The Longhorns now sport a 5-5 record. They take the field next when they host Camp Verde for a non-league match on Monday, October 13.
