Fans at Wednesday's league battle between the Mid Valley Spartans (Throop, PA) and the host Lakeland Chiefs (Jermyn, PA), saw Mid Valley's soccer squad hold off Lakeland by a score of 1-0.

The Spartans (7-7) will now prepare for their battle against Forest City (Forest City, PA). The Foresters enter the non-league battle with a 0-10 record. In their last battle, Forest City was edged by Holy Cross (Dunmore, PA), 7-1, in a league battle.

Next up, the Chiefs confront the Mountain View Eagles (Kingsley, PA) in a Lackawanna - Division II battle, on Wednesday, October 8. Lakeland will attempt to improve on its 2-12 season record.
