In Tuesday's league battle, the host Linn-Mar Lions volleyball team scored a tight 2-1 triumph over the Hempstead Mustangs.

The Lions (18-12) will now prepare for their battle against Southeast Polk (Pleasant Hill, IA). The Rams come into the non-league battle with a 13-20 record. In their last battle, Southeast Polk was edged by Johnston (Johnston, IA), 3-0, in a league battle.

Next, the Mustangs encounter the Waterloo West Wahawks (Waterloo, IA) in a Mississippi Valley - Valley battle, on Thursday, October 19. Hempstead will attempt to move on its 14-12 season record. The Wahawks come into the battle with a 12-16 record after their 2-0 league win over Jefferson (Cedar Rapids, IA).
