Virginia High School Volleyball - Tabb edged by New Kent

The New Kent Trojans held off the host Tabb Tigers volleyball team by a score of 3-2 in Tuesday's league test.
The Trojans now have a 9-9 record. They put it on the line next when they host Jamestown for a Bay Rivers test on Thursday, October 12. New Kent will confront a Eagles team coming off a 3-1 league win over Poquoson (Poquoson, VA). The Eagles record now stands at 15-2.
The Tigers (8-10) will now prepare for their test against Bruton (Williamsburg, VA). The Panthers enter the Bay Rivers test with a 11-4 record. In their last test, Bruton held off Warhill (Williamsburg, VA), 3-1, in a league test.
Match Summary
The Lady Trojans avenged their home loss to Tabb in the second week of the season with a five-set win at Tabb. New Kent came out solid in the first set, winning 25-17, but Tabb rallied in the second set, taking advantage of 21 New Kent errors to pull even and went ahead in the third set, assisted by 20 New Kent errors. In the fourth set, the Lady Trojans got control of their game, cutting the errors in half to 11 and hitting .322 with 12 kills and only two errors in 31 attempts. The deciding set saw Tabb win the toss to serve, but New Kent got the sideout on the second point. For the next nine points, neither team could earn more than a one-point lead until the Lady Trojans went on a three-point run at 5-5 to go ahead 8-5. Tabb closed to 8-7 before New Kent opened their lead to 11-7, but a four-point Tabb run tied the game at 11 all. New Kent broke the tie and moved to within one of winning at 14-13. With the match on the line, a Tabb serving error gave the match to the Lady Trojans.
