In Thursday's league challenge, the visiting Mount Vernon Tigers volleyball team scored a close 3-2 triumph over the Rains Wildcats.

The Tigers (4-19) will now prepare for their challenge against Commerce (Commerce, TX). The Tigers come into the 3A Region II District 12 challenge with a 13-17 record. In their last challenge, Commerce edged Lone Oak (Lone Oak, TX), 3-2, in a league challenge.

Next, the Wildcats play the Prairiland Patriots (Pattonville, TX) in a 3A Region II District 12 challenge, on Tuesday, October 15. Rains will attempt to upgrade on its 7-23 season record. The Patriots come into the challenge with a 23-12 record after their 3-1 league loss to Lone Oak (Lone Oak, TX).
