In Friday's non-league challenge, the visiting Valdez Buccaneers volleyball team scored a close 1-0 triumph over the Mountain City Christian Academy Lions.

The Buccaneers (24-6) will now prepare for their challenge against Nikiski (Nikiski, AK). The Bulldogs come into the non-league challenge with a 18-8 record. In their last challenge, Nikiski edged Redington (Wasilla, AK), 3-0, in a league challenge.

Next, the Lions meet the Seward Seahawks (Seward, AK) in a non-league challenge, on Friday, October 11. Mountain City Christian Academy will attempt to upgrade on its 18-20 season record. The Seahawks come into the challenge with a 12-16 record after their 3-0 league loss to Kenai Central (Kenai, AK).
