In Thursday's league battle, the host Mathews Blue Devils volleyball team scored a tight 1-0 triumph over the Carver College and Career Academy Wolverines.

The Blue Devils (7-10) will now prepare for their battle against Essex (Tappahannock, VA). The Trojans come into the non-league battle with a 5-10 record. In their last battle, Essex was edged by Colonial Beach (Colonial Beach, VA), 3-0, in a league match.

With the loss, Carver College and Career Academy drops to 0-9 on the campaign. The Wolverines travel to West Point (West Point, VA) to battle the Pointers in a Tidewater match on Monday, October 16. The Pointers come into the match with a record of 8-7. West Point lost 3-1 in their recent league match against King William (King William, VA)
