In Saturday's non-league challenge, the host Burroughs Bears volleyball team scored a close 2-1 victory over the Taft Toreadors.

The Bears (14-10) will now prepare for their challenge against Arcadia (Arcadia, CA). The Apaches enter the Pacific challenge with a 24-4 record. In their last challenge, Arcadia was tipped by Crescenta Valley (La Crescenta, CA), 3-1, in a league challenge.

Next, the Toreadors meet the Chatsworth Chancellors (Chatsworth, CA) in a West Valley challenge, on Monday, October 14. Taft will attempt to upgrade on its 33-7 season record. The Chancellors enter the challenge with a 24-16 record after their 1-0 non-league win over University (Los Angeles, CA).
