In Saturday's league challenge, the visiting Lakeland Thunderbirds volleyball team scored a 3-1 triumph over the Medford Raiders.

The Thunderbirds (11-8) will now prepare for their challenge against Tomahawk (Tomahawk, WI). The Hatchets come into the Great Northern challenge with a 12-16 record. In their last challenge, Tomahawk beat Wittenberg-Birnamwood (Wittenberg, WI), 3-2, in a non-league challenge.

Next, the Raiders play the Northland Pines Eagles (Eagle River, WI) in a Great Northern challenge, on Saturday, October 12. Medford will attempt to upgrade on its 21-12 season record. The Eagles come into the challenge with a 9-16 record after their 3-0 league loss to Antigo (Antigo, WI).
