In Thursday's league battle, the host Thomas Jefferson Gryphons soccer squad scored a good 9-0 triumph over the Cherryville Ironmen.
The Gryphons (7-4) will now prepare for their battle against Bessemer City (Bessemer City, NC). The Yellow Jackets come into the Southern Piedmont 1A/2A battle with a 0-14 record. In their last battle, Bessemer City was overwhelmed by Highland Tech (Gastonia, NC), 9-0, in a league battle.
The Ironmen (5-9) will now prepare for their battle against Shelby (Shelby, NC). The Golden Lions come into the Southern Piedmont 1A/2A battle with a 13-2 record. In their last battle, Shelby thwarted Burns (Lawndale, NC), 4-1, in a league battle.
