Fans at Tuesday's league contest between the Nixon-Smiley Mustangs (Nixon, TX) and the visiting Luling Eagles (Luling, TX), observed Nixon-Smiley's volleyball team top Luling by a count of 3-1.

The Mustangs (13-17) will now prepare for their contest against Goliad (Goliad, TX). The Tigers enter the 3A Region IV District 26 contest with a 34-3 record. In their last contest, Goliad notched a victory over Stockdale (Stockdale, TX), 3-0, in a league contest.

Next, the Eagles battle the Karnes City Badgers (Karnes City, TX) in a 3A Region IV District 26 contest, on Friday, October 17. Luling will attempt to upgrade on its 2-22 season record. The Badgers enter the challenge with a 11-22 record after their 3-0 league loss to Poth (Poth, TX).
