The Winthrop Vikings held off the host Gloucester Fishermen soccer team by a tally of 1-0 in Wednesday's league game.
The Vikings now hold a 10-4 record. They play next when they travel to Arlington Catholic for a non-league bout on Saturday, October 18. Winthrop will play a Cougars squad coming off a 8-1 league loss to Archbishop Williams (Braintree, MA). The Cougars record now stands at 3-8.
With the loss, Gloucester moves to 1-13 on the year. The Fishermen host Beverly (Beverly, MA) to face the Panthers in a non-league game on Monday, October 20. The Panthers enter the game with a record of 15-1. Beverly won 6-0 in their recent non-league game against Peabody Veterans Memorial (Peabody, MA)
