In Monday's non-league battle, the host Manzano Monarchs soccer squad scored a close 5-0 win over the Valley Vikings.
The Monarchs (9-7) will now prepare for their battle against Rio Grande (Albuquerque, NM). The Ravens go into the 5A District 5 battle with a 1-15 record. In their last battle, Rio Grande was overwhelmed by Capital (Santa Fe, NM), 2-1, in a league battle.
The Vikings (4-13) will now prepare for their battle against Hope Christian (Albuquerque, NM). The Huskies go into the 4A District 6 battle with a 14-2 record. In their last battle, Hope Christian nipped Albuquerque Academy (Albuquerque, NM), 1-0, in a league battle.
